WOMBELS - Divine Madness 1992

Another band which I appreciate are the Wombels from Ulm. The name refers to a popular animated series in the late 70's early 80's. You might think this was funpunk, for some it is this but they all wrong and have really no feeling for the melodic & hard sound of the Wombels, they remind me rather of the early UK scene. Their debut album "Fast & Bouncy" confirms this but sadly are only 73 copies been pressed because the band was not convince of the sound so it become one of the rarest german punk record. WOMBELS - Aber Angelika!? EP 1989

Nothing new in blogland but this EP of the numinous Wombels from Ulm is simply delicious. One of my favorite bands and with their melodic punk rock they're a perfect start to a cold winter day. The band sang their first songs in German, and then swung into English. Their legendary 'Fast & Bouncy' album was unfortunately a lousy production and that's the reason why only 75 copies were pressed. Today one of the rarest and most sought albums. Worth mentioning the great cover artwork too. Don't miss their second record Divine Madness which has a brilliant production and with the Wombels I feel good and if you feelin' bad then let them in. Unfortunately sad news at the end, singer/guitarist and founding member Steff has died after a long illness on 17.07.2015 - a complete surprise to me... thank you for the great music, R.I.P.

V/A - Neues Deutschland 1990

Another good record which I think apparently in the scene and not warmly accepted is this one. It is offered everywhere cheap and I don't know why. Maybe it lies partially at the band names which sounds jocularly or the cover looks worse or something like that... however, this compilation kicks & sounds not really funny at all. Almost all songs are exclusive and shortly after the german reunification, A.M. Music (none of my favourite labels) has published this little pearl. The lyrics quite offensive, political & personal, nevertheless sometimes funny as well (Hannen Alks) and musically perfect melodic punk sound. The arrangement of west & east bands works. All in all is this compilation a small piece of german subculture.

V/A - Awup! EP 1990

One more gem with more unpublished songs is this little german compilation which was released on Unsere Kleine Welt Records. Three bands, three songs. First the Bonner Präservative which brings us a song of the advantage of using a hearing aid in a funny way. Next Walter 11, the band from the Spermbirds sphere, brings with 'Goodbye, Hans-Peter' a traditional farewell song for the best football Defenser which leaves the football club FCK to play in the italian soccer league, and is a truly punk pearl, and finally The Wombels with an absolute blast piece that describes how cops dressed in women's clothes waylay punkers in the park. One of the best songs by this awesome band (unfortunately, singer Steff died on 17.07.2015, R.I.P.) - All in all three cool punk anthems which should not be missed at any party.

V/A - How Will You Know What This Record Sounds Like If You Don't Listen To It 1987

Last post today brings us a benefit Compliation for the AJZ Ludwixhafen and the bands all from Germany except Disperazione from Italy. A colorful mix of punk, hardcore, a few live tracks and a little obscure stuff and special mention here are the bands which contribute each song, known and unknown bands and I mean this is a perfect combination. Released I think, in a limited edition and now hard to get. My copy I bought on ebay and unfortunately with no booklet. Too bad, so I can give no further information on but it's not necessary. Regardless, every song is brilliant, no failures, recorded exclusively for this compilation. Sounds neither embarrassing or boring, see for yourself, enjoy this pretty rare record and have fun!

V/A - Flops Of The Pops 1991

Ohhh, what a great evening I had, thanks to my friends (which was magic). Well, it's a tradition that a lot of punk record labels (mostly german, for example: AGR, Weird System, Double AA, etc...) use for their first publication a compilation LP. It shows in what direction the label goes & they prefer and what we, the users, can expect. Incognito Records put out their debut LP in 1991 and with bands from all over this planet. The label is known for their awesome '77 punkrock classics and they're always up for a surprise. As far as I know all these songs were not anywhere published and therefore this is plate a rare piece of round black vinyl, containing a 16-page booklet and at lasta pretty D.I.Y. cover. The eyes are satisfied and I promise you the music does too!

Und jetzt wieder ein weiterer selbstgemachter sampler mit reichlich rarem deutschen PUNK Zeugs der sich sehen lassen kann, emotional & wütend, direkt aus dem Herz gehaun. My late evening post comes with a fine tape rip and for all of you who like's a scrape live sound like me this special gem is a must!!! 37 tracks recorded live on different places in Germany and this cassette shows a good overview who 1991 visited our pretty locations. I acquired this tape that time over a still existing german mailorder and I think it was a good idea, or?? Side A is full with German Punk bands while the B side belongs to the rest of the populated human scum world, Yes, I hate people (you know which one). Ninety minutes wild & rough sound. An awesome tone document in my opinion. Get It!!!
