V/A - Bloodstains Across The UK 4 1999

This morning I listen to a lot of old UK punk bands and I can't get enough from all these classics. So here's a great compilation of tracks taken from rare punk records and I'm sure you need no further details. The Bloodstains records are always limited to 500 copies and since 1992 at the start. The CD releases have mostly bonus tracks on it but who wants CD's? I prefer vinyl even if it needs more space, anyway. Here are eighteen essential punk rock blasts and the song selection is quite good, no failure, check other volumes on wdthtc - a must have! A small note at the end: song #2 is not 'Disco Veteran', it's 'I've Seen It, Vomit', if interested.

1.Time Wall - FIRE EXIT
2.I've Seen It, Vomit - BOG UGLY
3.Look-Out - THE FAKES
4.Fallen Hero - NO SUPPORT

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World 1999

Amazing assortment of rare stuff from around the world on this Bloodstains compilation and it is truly remarkable where all finest punk rock was celebrated. When the songs have been recorded no one takes care and the bands disappeared quickly in the vast ocean and today their 7inches are highly sought and fuckin' costly. Crazy World or ???? Anyway, without www and music junkies around the world we never came in touch with those goodies. This record proves that. The only deficit here: The covers are cheap photocopied foldovers and no info sheet enclosed. Well fuck it, the music is excellent.

1.Watchers Of Time - DEEP SIX
2.The Rebellion Of The Dwarfs - FRÆBBBLARNIR
3.Disco Fever - MONROE

With this Bloodstains compilation all four parts of the UK section are here now represented and # 2 has not sixteen goodies (as the front says) on it, we have eighteen rare lost nuggets, why is this so explains a little info-blättchen inside. I'm a little k.o. now because yesterday was a nice afternoon with lots of alcohol in me + far too many cigarettes. Therefore briefly looked and right out enjoying the sun. You know what you get with this record so more words are superfluously. Enjoy this Sunday!

When the Bloodstains series had its hype in the mid Nineties they were posted on a lot of blogs and I've sucked quite a few too and there were some selfmade cuts by people that didn't come out on vinyl and this compilation is one of them. THE VALVES - It Don't Mean Nothing At All 7'' 1979

"...The Valves are vital and undiluted amid the rock'n'roll fallout." (Sounds 11.11.78) - The Valves were one of the early punk groups from Edinburgh, Scotland. The band, chronicled in Henrik Poulsen's book 77: The Year of Punk and New Wave, featured Dave Robertson as Dee Robot on vocals, G. Dair/Teddy Dair aka Gordon Dair on drums, Gordon Scott or Pada on bass guitar and Ronnie Mackinnon on guitar. The band was originally called Angel Easy and were a pub rock group. They released three singles and then broke up in 1979, with most of the members quitting the music business. Both songs are catchy as hell and the last sign of life from this superb pub-punk band, released on Albion Records. Represented on numerous compilations, worth mentioning: Bloodstains Across the UK, Kilt By Death and England Belongs To Me # 4 (coming soon).

TRAVOLTA KIDS - Veckans Brott EP 1979 + Det Känns Okej EP 1980

First I came in touch with this nice band as I found their first record on kbdrecords (one of the earliest blogs I know and one which I still follow). Check in if you looking for '77 exotic stuff and more, definitely worth it. Travolta Kids were a punk band during the big 77-point scale in Sweden. They were formed in 1977 in Åkersberga/Stockholm and were a six/seven piece band. They release their debut EP on Bröderna Surf and this record has four simple cozy garage numbers on it and you can really feel the spirit of a new subculture. In Sweden, U.K., Germany, France, etc. .. punk was born and many young and nowadays great bands were founded and the virus quickly spread over the entire planet (with a few exceptions).

The recordings here stimulate me always so I dance to kitchen and get another cup of coffee. After the EP they put seven new songs on the brilliant Bakverk 80 compilation on MNW Records. Further Bands here are KSMB and the Incest Brothers. A tour of all three bands together followed through Sweden and I'm sure those were cool gigs. The band changed the label and the second EP 'Det Känns Okej' was released on Mistlur with three cuts. This record goes more into PowerPop and I like the harmonic melodies which pull through and the sound is a bit better. In the same year they released their only full length album, again on Mistlur & is also present in the Blog. Directly after the LP the band split up. I have read the LP should be far away from their original sound and offers more shallow pop scrap. What do you think? The band features on various compilations, worth mentioning the Musikverket EP, Ny Våg 78-82 and Bloodstains Across Sweden #2A better opener for a shitty Monday is not possible today.

V/A - Best Perfumes Of The Revolution 7'' 1982

So much new stuff and it's time to bring something from those among to light. I begin with this little split 7inch. Released via the French label Blitzkrieg Records and just found on the A-side a crazy Chinese band to which I can't say any words, except that they celebrate here the classic Anarchy in the UK (also on Bloodstains Across The World) herein a totally crazy version, is this still singing or what?? The mic-man is 100% wacky, how else goes it, damn cool! The flip is a teamwork of two Polish bands, Kryzys and Deadlock, and their 'I'm On The Top' is a nice 4:22 stomper. Which idea stands behind this small piece of plastic remains only to guess, sure is both goodies are absolutely first class and you can see them on any good compilation.

- Huge Thx to Fredrik -

THE BUZZ - Asylum 1981

Let's come to another rare nugget of English music with the Buzz from Shrewsbury, formed 1978 and they released their first awesome Insanity EP on Redball Records with three splendid cuts one year later. Their only album was recorded with a different line-up, Chris Bellingham (vocals/synth), Nic Evans (guitars), Chris Hill (bass) and I.R. Davis (drums), and their sound moves away from the simple 1-2-3-4 punk of the 7'', are getting longer and have more atmosphere and depth in my opinion, New Wave I could say. They really did their own thing and no record company was interested so they just released the record with fourteen sunbeams on their own, a good decision! On important compilations represented, for example Bloodstains Across the UK 4 and more in the Blog. Enjoy!

SILENT NOISE - I've Been Hurt 7'' 1979

Appropriate for my physical condition, the following is 7inch and comes from a four piece and was released on Easy Records in an edition of 1000 copies and features two excellent tracks, but in order: Norfolk-based combob which formed 1978 as "Broadside Outcasts" they performed at least one gig with an added saxophonist. The band's name was then changed to Silent Noise after one of Dave's songs and the band consisted of Neil (vocals), Steve (guitars), Dave (bass/vocals), Polo (drums). In 2002 the dutch label Low Down Kids Records released a fantastic compilation "Whatever Happened To Us" with twelve rare goodies and if someone has this, please drop me a mail. Present on a few Compilations, one of them Bloodstains Across The U.K #3, but the four certainly deserve more appearances with their excellent PowerPop stuff. On the road to recovery, I remain yours sincerely.

INNOCENT BYSTANDERS & DEBUTANTES - Split 7'' 1979

Since years, this fantastic single is slumbering on my hard drive and I don't even noticed it. As you can see how confused I am sometimes but that's normahl, haha... OK, this little nugget from the Wanted-List was released by Rok Records with two rather unknown bands and more was unfortunately not recorded. The Bystanders with a solid 3:50 number and the Debutantes show again how great the sound at end of the seventies was and is and Man In The Street was rightly banned on Bloodstains Across The UK 4. Pretty powerpop stuff.

- Special Thx to trgec -

THE SEIZE - Dancing Like A Dervish EP 1984

Now a rare record from the Wanted-List and there's not much music in Blogland from The Seize (this is really a shame), a four piece from Reading/Berkshire and they have three 7Inches and a mini album, all via Why Not? Records released and it's fuckin' time to listen more from them because this band is simply delicious, more swingin' powerpop and I will not to say amateurish, rather somehow they give me the feeling there is no evil in the world, you know... Argh! anyway, four nice songs and maybe someone sent their 12''. The Seize can be found on Back To Front # 3 and Bloodstains Across The UK 4. Go for it...

- Big Thx to trgec -

RED LETTERS - Sacred Voices EP 1979

A very nice record and their only one (500 copies on Burning Bing Productions) by this three piece from the mining village of Newtongrange/Midlothian, formed in 1979 from the remnants of a punky anti-Nazi band called "Strange Writing" by Pud (vocals/bass), Ted (guitars/vocals), Jake (drums) and we listen to three cool tracks, the a-side with two 'short' blasts while the flip is a fabulous four-minute guitar orgasm. Check Punk77 for more infos and enjoy them with other allies on the Bloodstains Across The UK 2 compilation. Thanks to unknown for this nugget, forgot who sent it to me.
