THE BUSINESS - Suburban Rebels 1983

Welcome May and we say Hello! with a classic, the spledid debut album by The Business on Secret Records (original called Loud, Proud and Punk but the master tapes for the album went missing after disagreements between the band's label and the studio, forcing them to re-record the album, which was released as Suburban Rebels in May 1983). Formed 1979 in Lewisham by school friends Steven ('Steve') Kent (guitar), Michael Fitzsimons ('Micky Fitz') (vocals), Nicholas ('Nick') Cunningham (drums) and Martin Smith (bass) and I think they were one of the first bands which characterize the "Oi!" sound vehemently and consistently. By 2008, eleven albums were released, numerous singles and many compilation tracks. The Business are still popular I think and their music is first cream in my opinion.

V/A - Bandsalat 1982

Last compilation for today and this Berlin cracker was brought to us by Good Noise and the recordings arosed in the years 1979-1982 partly in the historical cult site in Moabit and partly in the new "Sonnenstudio" at Checkpoint and we enjoy a nice mix of new wave, reggae and morsel punk goodies and all this was recorded beside the recording engineers of course by the friendly 8 respectively 16-track machines. At first I thought the songs were taken from demos or other tapes but that's not the case, half of them are exclusive and only on this record, so let's catch the rare 80's sound from Berlin.

SYDKRAFT - s/t LP 1979

Next request now: Before Sydkraft release their only album they shot the 7Inch Surfway 1978 as small tidbit out and both tracks decorate the album with eleven more lost nuggets and the range goes from powerpop to reggae and snotty punkrock numbers. Not the typical KBD style, rather highly variable and I must confess a few fillers are also there but that's okay. I guess the band's lifetime was short and not represented on compilations, that says a lot. Massproduktion changed this 2015 with the ingenious Vägra Raggarna Benzin Vol.3 & 4 records and both have a lot more to offer from the Swedish provinceNot a bad record, but even no burner.

- Great Thx to Fredrik -

COCKS IN STAINED SATIN - Tune In Turn On...Drop Out 1989

Time for a few requests and I know, I'm late. First the last album, via 1st Records, by my favorite Frankfurter Cocks In Stained Satin and this one is full of fourteen melodious funny bubble gums, I can tell they were very popular in the 80s with their sympathetic performances. I will not write much because all albums available on wdthtc and so you don't have to search long just click TUNE IN and enjoy all Cocks nuggets, infos + links. I just want to mention that they have wrongly earned too little attention. Well, just stay as insider and it doesn't always have to be well-known.

THE EARS - Leap For Lunch 7'' 1980

Debut self-released 7Inch by this Melbourne four piece: Sam (vocals), Michael (guitars), Cathy (bass) and Charles (drums), The Ears are born 1979 and this is a nice new wave record with two decent goodies. Bandcamp says: The legendary Melbourne post-punk band of the early 80s - on which the film 'Dogs in Space' was based (and in which lead singer Sam Sejavka was played by Michael Hutchence of INXS) have exhumed themselves from an early grave and are realising their frightening potential for madness, whimsy and mind-destroying rock. The Ears were a prominent band in Austalia’s seminal underground scene of the late seventies/early eighties. They are represented on a couple of compilations I unfortunately don't know, sounds good to you?

JESTERS - Hillbilly Bop 7'' 1981

From Newcastle to Berlin with another rare record by Rockabilly's Jesters, a five piece combo; in detail: Richie (vox), Detlef (bass), Mickey (lead guitar), Sheeby (guitars) and Leroy (drums) and this little two-sided cracker was released on Blue Moon Records and offers hearty 50's sound pleasure, rough and unpolished from the cellars of the Führerbunker. They recorded an album but was never released, maybe financial reasons or because the band broke up in 1981. Unfortunately, there is no further information available about this band in the net and so this remains to be their secret. But luckily Rotten Totten Records released a 10'' in a limited edition of 200 copies with all their recordings '79-'82 and it's nowadays fuckin' rare. If anyone could send a copy this would be great. Now let the wild cats out and turn the knobs to maximum.

WARFARE - Total Death EP 1985

I'm ripping at the moment the first solo album by Evo which is called Warfare and was released via High Roller Records and it's a nice appearance and Evo is probably better known to you as drummer/singer of the Newcastle Metalpunx Warfare, which made in the 80's some great records on Neat Records and that's why I choose this little four track EP as next post. What should I tell you? I always like to remember a festival with four bands in a gym in Frankfurt 1986 and it was fantastic, Warfare was the last act and thirty people were left, simply the real Hardcores. The band threw cucumber juice and the pogo usually ended up on the ass, I never experienced anything like that and I was young and enjoyed it very much. Those who were there at the time can remember what I'm talking about; yes yes, the good old days. Don't miss the Crescendo Of Reflections compilation with old songs in a new dress ('91). And now off to the weekend!

ELECTRIC MANCHAKOU - Animal Man EP 1990

Completely new for me is this band which originally formed in Sète 1985 as Manchakou by Tierry Tannières (ex-Joli Garçon and Fall Of Saigon), Jacques Séris (ex-Joli Garçon), Freddie Bonetti and Marc Duran (both ex-Phulacontarques), and they moved to London in 1986; three years later changed moniker in Electric Manchakou after Freddie Bonetti left the band; in 1990 Pippo and Romano Pasquini of The A-10 joined Electric Manchakou, disbanded in 1991. They released three 7Inches and two albums to my knowledge. Contained in this file all crazy's from the EP's plus a few dynamic garage hellriders from the '93 slab - Kick Out The Fuzz Motherfuckers!!!!

- Great Thx to François -
