KOHU-63 - Valtaa Ei Loistoa 12'' 1982

Kohu-63 was formed already in 1977, so it can be said that they are one the pioneers of punk in Finland. Their first recordings appeared on a legendary compilation, called Hilse LP, that came out in 1979. Hilse LP was the first Finnish punk compilation and it really has all the important punk bands of the late 70's. After that compilation they only sang in Finnish. Their first record came out in 1981 and it was a EP called 'Pelimannimusaa'. It was released on Poko Rekords. After that Kohu went more and more in a Hardcore direction and they released their MiniLP called 'Valtaa Ei Loistoa', also on Poko Rekords. "The missing link between Lama and the younger Finnish thrash bands. Kohu-63's newer material is considerably faster than the tracks on their '77-like 'Pelimanimusaa' EP. They certainly haven't lost any drive or power, though some of the melodic hooks may have been trampled in the stampeding tempo. V/A - Hilse 1979

The Hilse record was the first Finnish punk compilation and it really has all the important punk bands of the late 70's on it. A LP that everyone should have in your record collection. There are many simple reasons, the song 'Just Like Eddy, I Hate Teddy' from KOHU-63 is awesome, 'Ketään Ei Kiinnosta Mitään' by Pelle Miljoona 1980 is crazy & weird, the Beatles cover (Sensuuri), Briard & Ratsia tracks are killers etc. etc....all eighteen songs rock decently how we all like & know Finnish PunkRock (this is the CD version with eleven goodies from Hilse II). We travel far into the north of Europe to the land of 1000 lakes, dense forests and icy temperatures. Numerous famous hardcore/punk bands enriched us with terrific records and on this little compilation thirty of them are selected and was assembled by three American fans of Finnish Hardcore. "We did this out of our love of the music and to expose these records, which are not widely known outside of Finland to a wider audience. We would like to think we are helping expose these bands to a new geneartion of punx, making it possible for bands to re-issue more classic material. 2000 copies were pressed, comes with detailed info sheet". Thx for that and now enjoy raw, rare Hardcore 1981-1985.

V/A - Maanalainen Vuosikerta 1989

Yesterday DFB Cup final and again very exciting and with a happier ending for RB Leipzig. I stuck with Freiburg, but they underinvested after half-time and Leipzig really showed a strong performance with ten men. Congratulations on the first title. Next week's CL final, which is sure to be just as exciting. - Another rare compilation, that I've been looking for a long time and finally able to purchase a few years ago, was released on the Finnish Stigma label in 700 copies. In addition to well-known virtuosos, there are bands that haven't hardly made much appearances, but they're a solid contribution and their musical variety makes this slab a little masterpiece. And that's exactly what I like, and I love to discover the unknown, like a researcher. In addition, an A4 booklet with lyrics and presentation of each participating band, thus an excellent investment, with heart and soul. And all this included. Nice release with interesting music/bands and worth getting.

VITTU EI KIITOS - s/t EP 2004

Debut slab with six great Hardcore goodies from Rovaniemi, Katja and Jukka Jonza from Turku and released via Höhnie Records! Founded in the summer of 2002 at the Arctic Circle! All four people in the band take lead vocals, all sung in native Finnish, the sexiest language in the world! Zero cover versions! Six own songs in the tradition of old Terveet Kädet, Kohu-63 or Shitter Limited, but none with these bands really comparable! Recorded in studios Napalm/Tampere, the capital of Finnish HC punk! The first 500 copies appeared in white vinyl. From the cult factor hard to beat!

I.A.F. & RÄHÄKKÄ - Split EP 2003

Again further with more extreme music, this time with two absolute brilliant bands and I love this awesome record. AARRGGHHHHHH, I'm fuckin' angry!!!! OK, first side is awesome killer trash hardcore from Barcelona from a band called I.A.F. (Ideal Anti Fascista) and if you have heard this you wonder if the B-side hardly beat this. Driving played hardcore volume with tempos and they're really pissed. I don't understand a fucking word so I think music like this speaks for itself (don't worry there's a lyric sheet inside) and I love this aggression and anger underlaid with a terrible sound, these guys are damn good. The same applies to Rähäkkä, a scandi-thrash-hardcore-crust band, extremely drunk but still political. The band was formed in the mid-90's in Tampere, Finland, featuring members from such legendary bands as Kaaos, Bastards and Kohu-63. The band is now back from a hiatus as long as three and a half years and is more fucked up than ever before, doing shows every once in a while and about to record some new material in the very near future.
