THE DETONATORS - Billion Dollar Nazis EP 1991

Great four track EP by the Detonators, formed 1979 by Bruce Hartnell & Juan Camacho in Redondo Beach, California, to participate in the emerging hardcore punk rock scene that was exploding in southern California at the time. Just out of high school, the two life-long friends played various parties and gigs with numerous drummers as punk rock was still fairly frowned upon by most musicians, and finding a drummer willing to stick around long enough to allow the band to build an audience what quite a task in itself. Korky Ollerton joined on drums in 1981, and with Hartnell on bass, and Camacho on guitar, the band took to putting and advertisement in a L.A. weekly paper, “The Recycler”, for a vocalist. Mike Mooney passed the audition, and with his inclusion, the band set off work on material that was to become their first album “Emergency Broadcast Systems”. This is just a little intro and you can read their full story via soundclick and not unimportant as well: the needful Smelling Just Another Bad Breath compilation from 1986.

MOSKWA - s/t LP 1989

Moskwa is a Polish punk-rock band and were formed in 1983 in the dirty, covered with smoke of the factory chimneys Polish town Lodz, a big legend of Polish underground, one of the most original and charismatic bands of the Eastern-Europe punkrock scene. Moskwa plays, as a newcomer, at the Rock Music Festival Jarocin (the biggest festival in Poland at that time). The band had an enthusiastic welcome and overnight became an insider tip in the Polish independent scene. After playin' lots of festivals they recorded their first LP and in March 1989, two years after being recorded, it cames out! Fast, loud & violent style and it's still a classic one. I heard the first Moskwa tunes on the Smelling Just Another Bad Breath Compilation which was released via Double A Records in 1986. So this post is the CD-Release from 2002 with tons of bonus cuts from their early works. So enjoy all 28 classic pearls.

V/A - Smelling Just Another Bad Breath 1986

The third release from Double A Records is this fine goodie. The label owner was always searching for bands around the world and so they sent plenty of material to Germany and the result shows this strong international compilation. A healthy dose of exclusive songs in a decent packing. I remember that I had to sell the record for lack of money, but I could take it again on a record fair, unfortunately without the booklet. Naja, es gibt schlimmeres! Have fun with this.
